Please pass on to the students how they appeared to us: SMART and innovative, effective communicators, collaborators, LEADERS! What other experience could provide that! I look forward to hearing more about the Sahuaro project.

The Rodel Community Scholars program provides young people the opportunity to not only point out the chief issues affecting education but to also identify solutions and implement a plan of action to rectify those issues. The most vital component of the program is that it seeks input from the very stakeholders it aims serve, Arizona's students in k-12 public schools. By learning firsthand what students face each day at home and at school, educators will be better equipped to ensure all students are successful. The Rodel Community Scholars program is, therefore, to use the cliché, a program in a league of its own.

The RODEL scholars program is a unique and effective way to improve education in Arizona. There are many initiatives to improve education, but few of those initiatives consider that students must be active participants in the reform process. The RODEL Scholars program not only recognizes the importance of student self-advocacy, it is built around student-initiated change. Students are both challenged and empowered to make a difference in Arizona schools.

I was impressed by the student's presentations at the faculty meeting. I am interested in helping. How can I do this?
